Privacy Policy

degrees° (“we”, “us”) is a privacy-first, travel-centric social network and utility app, currently in invite-only beta. This policy covers the marketing site (degrees.travel) and the app (app.degrees.travel).

To provide the service, we collect and store:

• Account details — your email address and your chosen @handle.
• Encryption password — used to protect your private data. It is separate from sign-in and is not used to log you in.
• Content you create — trips, itineraries, journal entries and posts, including any text, dates and locations you add.
• Uploaded documents and media — tickets, passports, visas, images and other files you attach to trips or itinerary items.
• Invite code — the code used to join the beta, so we can manage access.

Uploaded documents and images are stored in Contabo S3-compatible object storage. Media is served through our own application, not shared with advertising or profiling networks.

Authentication and sessions are handled by Better Auth using cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and the app working. These cannot be switched off. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers.

We send transactional email — for example verification codes and account notices — over SMTP. We do not sell your email address or use it for third-party marketing.

When enabled, we use Plausible Analytics: a privacy-friendly, cookieless tool that measures aggregate usage. It does not track you across other sites and does not fingerprint your device. We use no other third-party analytics.

Analytics are strictly opt-in. Nothing loads until you accept the analytics category in our cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time by selecting Cookie preferences in the footer of any page and rejecting analytics.

degrees° is currently available by invitation only. Invite codes let us manage who can register during the beta and are tied to the account created with them.

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. On account deletion we remove your personal data and associated content, subject to any legal retention obligations.
